Purpose of the job / project
LNDS is a key partner in the newly funded project “Luxembourg AI Factory” co-financed by the European Union under the EuroHPC joint undertaking. In this project, LNDS is leading the development of services related to data facilitation and supporting AI innovation in compliance readiness within Luxembourg. 
 
As a Senior Legal and Privacy Specialist, you will be part of the ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) team and your role will focus on development and delivery of services in the AI Factory project related to regulatory guidance of the EU AI Act, training and support. You will also advise on the data protection requirements, compliance with other related legislations and other challenges that need to be addressed as part of the operations and services of our organisation.
What you will do
  • Analysis and interpretation of legal and/or ethical requirements based on legal and ethical norms, review of existing guidelines, and where applicable, case law.  These will be applicable to the challenges for secondary use of data and machine learning applications, in particular Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems.
  • Conducting privacy and data protection assessments to evaluate the project compliance and identify areas of improvement.
  • Offering expert advice on data governance, data mapping, responsible AI, privacy by design, technical and security measures.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy considerations into business processes, products and services offered by LNDS within the scope of the AI Factory.
  • Development of practical tools, templates, guidance, training and other instruments for ELSI compliance.
  • Analysis and awareness of the legal landscape on national and EU level where relevant for LNDS’ service in the AI Factory, in particular for secondary use of data, data security, AI Act compliance and other legal standards.
Who you are
  • Master’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field, with a strong academic or professional focus on AI systems. Proven knowledge of AI governance or data protection is required, demonstrated through relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, AIGP) or training aligned with recognized standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 42001).
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience in risk management or compliance roles related to AI or data-driven systems—ideally within regulated or technology-driven environments.
  • Solid understanding of how AI systems function across their lifecycle, and the ability to identify and assess key risks (e.g.,, bias, lack of transparency, non-compliance with data protection requirements).
  • Involvement in Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) of AI systems, and experience contributing to the design or implementation of internal controls for AI or data-centric technologies.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional environments, collaborating with data scientists, ML engineers, legal, and cybersecurity teams to support responsible and compliant AI development.
  • Proven ability to translate regulatory and ethical requirements into actionable technical and organizational measures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders on risk and compliance topics.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Proficient in French is a plus.
