Purpose of the job / project
The ICUdata4EU project, funded by the European Union's Digital Europe Programme (Grant Agreement No 101168169), aims to standardise and improve the use of patient data for critically ill individuals across borders. By creating a strong data infrastructure, it strives to enhance clinical decisions, enable personalised care, and promote predictive healthcare, revolutionising critical care in Europe. The key goals are to standardise Intensive Care Unit (ICU) data, develop a centralised data platform, promote cross-border analysis, and ensure privacy and security.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer I, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of the decentralised data-sharing platform for the ICUdata4EU project. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of hospitals, SMEs, research institutions, IT solution providers, and governmental authorities to ensure the seamless integration and operation of the platform. Your work will be concentrated on the following work package: Design and Development of the Decentralised Data Sharing Platform. You will be part of the Technology and Infrastructure team, collaborating with other DevOps and infrastructure engineers on container-based technology from the development of the proof of concept to the actual production deployment.
What you will do
• Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure and tools for the ICUdata4EU project, both at the European and national levels.
• Configure and manage operational services of the ICUdata4EU infrastructure.
• Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of the infrastructure and services, following security- and privacy-by-design best practices.
• Assist in the development and apply high-quality agile software development and deployment practices.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to the infrastructure and services.
• Continuously improve the quality and efficiency of the infrastructure and services, using automation, testing, and feedback mechanisms.
• Document the infrastructure and services, as well as the processes and procedures for their deployment and operations.
• Research and evaluate new technologies and solutions that can enhance the ICUdata4EU project's objectives and capabilities.
• Represent the LNDS and collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to understand the requirements and expectations of the ICUdata4EU project and provide technical support and guidance.
• Travel within Europe to work directly with our partner when needed.
Who you are
• MSc in a scientific, technological, or engineering discipline related to computer science, information technology, or computing.
• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience with programming, deployment, and maintenance of web applications, as well as Linux systems and web servers' administration.
• Experience in implementing change management processes.
• Experience in research environment or projects.
• Working knowledge of computer security threats and methods of their prevention.
• Working knowledge of security- and privacy-by-design principles.
• Experience with system administration Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows machines.
• Working knowledge in shell scripting (Bash).
• Proven experience with setting up continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines.
• Good knowledge of Git VCS, Git platforms and IAAS tooling (e.g. Terraform).
• Experience with containerisation (Docker, Podman) and provisioning tools (Ansible).
• Knowledge of authentication protocols such as OpenID Connect, SAML, or LDAP/AD, and solutions including Keycloak.
• Familiarity with the HL7 standard and FHIR API is regarded as advantageous.
• Experience in profiling, fine-tuning, and optimisation of applications.
• Fluent in English, with the ability to well articulate the technical needs and to work within an interdisciplinary setting and communicate with external partners.
• Creative, solution-oriented with good analytical skills and a mindset for quality.
• You demonstrate strong critical-thinking abilities, you are adaptable, flexible and you are able to accept and manage changes in the workplace.
• You have cultural intelligence and diversity consciousness.
• Working knowledge of one of Luxembourg’s official languages (French, German or Luxembourgish) is a plus
